Each year we support over 125 Camden families with at least one child under 5 years old who are going through a difficult time. Often our families have older siblings too. By matching families with trained volunteers who visit them weekly we provide practical help, emotional support and enable families to get to appointments and visit local services. For over 20 years Camden families have been finding our family support at home a real help which makes a big difference!
From April 2018 we will also be able to support families from Islington who have a child under the age of five.
Most of the families supported by Home-Start Camden are through referrals, which often come from children centres, health visitors, GPs or social services. Families can also contact Home-Start Camden directly.
Once we receive a referral form, one of our co-ordinators will arrange to visit the family to find out what help is needed and if Home-Start is the right service for that family. If it is, they will match one of our trained volunteers to the family and the regular weekly visits will begin soon afterwards. Our co-ordinators keep track of how our support is going and are always available to deal with any questions or problems.
We have some leaflets available which you can download from this site which will help you to understand the service we provide and how it works. Simply click on one of the links below. You will need a PDF reader to view the documents.
