Local Trustee’s 70th Birthday Tea raises tons for charity
Jane Fawcett, long-time resident of Patshull Road, held a Tea Party for over 70 friends and family and raised a fantastic £1500 plus gift aid for Home-Start Camden. Jane requested no presents but instead invited people to give donations to her favourite charity for its work with Camden families who are under pressure.
Jane was ably helped by her five year old grandson, Elfric, dressed as a highwayman (see photo) who invited people to take part in a raffle. As well as being a Trustee, Jane has been a home-visiting volunteer for 8 years and helps Home-Start Camden raise vital funds through various fundraising events. The charity’s manager, Cathy Carpenter said “Jane is a total inspiration, sharing her skills, experience and energy with other parents so they can fully enjoy bringing up their children and feel part of a thriving local community. She is also a wonderful asset in the fundraising department and has got all her friends involved one way or another!”
The birthday grandee, said “I’ve found volunteering with Home-Start Camden really fulfilling and life enhancing. I’d encourage other parents and grandparents who can offer half a day a week to get trained as a Home-Start volunteer.”
