We celebrated our 20th birthday in Camden on Wednesday 10th June with a fantastic party for families, volunteers, funders, supporters, Trustees and staff – past and present! St Luke’s was the perfect venue for hosting over 140 guests, with plenty of activities and space for the children to run around.
One parent told us, “My family and I had a fabulous time last Wednesday at the 20 years celebration of HSC, we were so impress with such a beautiful display of posters, the music, the marionettes, yummy delicious food and cakes, so many families having a jolly good time, Sue’s daughter teaching the little ones belly dancing, and all the little work shops around the church, it was awesome! Thank you so much. “
The event was the culmination of 6 months workshops from HSC’s Chain Reaction project that brought parents together to share their skills, knowledge and talents. The project was funded by the Big Lottery’s Awards for All fund. Displays from this project included a hand made tapestry, photos from a trip to London Zoo, arts and crafts for children, face painting and photo collections from 20 years of Home-Start Camden. Home-Start Camden was launched on 14th June 1995 by Founder, Myra Farnworth, Glenda Jackson, MP at that time and Margaret Harrison OBE, the Founder of Home-Start UK.
At the birthday celebration, Home-Start Camden was delighted to announce that the Big Lottery Fund has awarded the family support charity a four year grant of £413, 696. HSC Trustees were joined by local Councillor Jenny Headlam-Wells for this announcement. This will underpin the work of Home-Start Camden to support families with at least one child under five who are going through a difficult time. The charity trains and supervises volunteers who visit families weekly to help increase parenting skills, confidence, reduce isolation and increase children’s and parents’ well-being.
